Creating Art from  garbage

By transforming waste materials into beautiful and compelling pieces of art work, Krishna Thing and other like minded artists hope to pass on a strong message to sensitise people from around the globe to certain realities of their country and culture. Trekking being one of the main attractions of Nepal, it's important to make people aware of the trace they are leaving on the environment while they are traveling. In collaboration with the organization Da Mind Tree, Krishna and a group of people travel every year to the Mount Everest to collect whatever pieces of garbage they can find. In the year of 2013, they collected over a tone and a half of waste on the mountain. An impressive number when put in the perspective that this is the reflection of the efforts of just a relatively small group of people. With the waste that was collected, Krishna and the other members created the sculptures that were to be exposed in the Visual Art Symposium on upcycling waste materials. After exhibiting in Kathmandu and Pokhara, the symposium brought Krishna out of Nepal to exhibit in France, Sweden and India.
